HIGH SCHOOL
In general, there are two tracks a student can take in high school: basic and college bound. If left to the student's discretion most will opt for the easy classes. Parents should speak with a counselor to get information about the courses a college-bound student should take. When meeting with a counselor, take along a copy of your children's PSAT scores so the counselor can make informed recommendations and help your children in trouble areas. Ask about Advanced Placement (AP) courses and advocate for your children to take those classes. AP tests are not just for students in the top 10 percent of the class; they also count as college credit, which can save valuable time and money.
